Die Cast Trimmer

Purpose / Summary:

SUMMARY Operate a hydraulic trim press to remove flash from die castings, perform some hand finishing and inspection of parts to ensure that they meet quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Required to follow instructions as given by Die Cast Trimming Leader or Die Cast Supervisor. Will be called upon to make only minor decisions in the performance of routine job duties.
Operate deburring tools, drill press, band saw, sanders, and all trim presses and ensure trim dies are set up properly in the trim press.
Exercise continuous mental and visual attention to properly perform duties to prevent injury to self and others. Usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.
Visually inspect castings and inspect castings using various direct reading measuring instruments to ensure quality of parts produced. Place and sort aluminum trimmings into proper containers.
Responsible for own work.
Assist in adhering to the current housekeeping/cleaning schedule.
Assist die casters and other trim machine operators with daily operations as needed.
Ability to read and understand basic print information, including the title block information and dimension tolerance.
Build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or combination of education and related work experience as deemed acceptable by the hiring authority. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group and other employees of the organization. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. 

WAGE RANGE

 

The starting pay for this position is $13.75 plus 1.25 shift differential.

NAC has day and night shift operations.
